Gentleness and Respect for other beliefs

When we are compelled to share our faith with non-believers, we have to realize that it is the Lord that ultimately accomplishes this work in transforming lives. We are simply the vessels that He can use if we make ourselves available and make the most of every opportunity. We must rely on the power of the Holy Spirit by constantly being in prayer for their souls, love them for who they are and look for opportunities to share the gospel with our words and actions. Verses to keep in mind when speaking with people of various faith backgrounds:
Ø  1 Peter 3:15 “In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”
Ø  2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage–with great patience and careful instruction.
Ø  2 Timothy 2:24-26 “And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.”

Some great questions to ask yourself.

1.     How can we engage people of different faith backgrounds?
2.     What do you think are some of the major hindrances or objections to following Christ?
3.     What are some questions you would ask to understand their religious beliefs?
4.     What scriptures would you use to point someone to Christ?
5.     What are some practical ways that we can show them the love of Christ?
6.     Are you frequently in prayer that God would lead you to someone who desperately needs Christ?

7.     Who are some people in your life that do not know the Lord and how could you be made more available and equipped to tell them about a relationship with God?
Love ya & God bless!
