34 Week Bumpdate and John William’s Baby Shower

Cue the emotions…I’m 34 weeks today! The time is drawing near and I know it will be here before we know it. On one hand it feels like I’ve been pregnant for ages and on the other it seems like yesterday when I was thinking of ways to break the news to Tyler that we were preggo!!

With approximately six weeks left, my mind has been racing the fast few days with all kinds of questions…when will he come? What will it be like the second time around? How will everyone adjust? What will he look like? 🙂 Find out what lessons I want to remember for this second baby here. Its been a really fun week getting to see my family, meet my new niece and celebrate John William at my baby shower. It’s been a while since my last bump date, so here it goes!

How far along: 34 weeks today

How big is baby: Baby boy is the size of a pineapple today! Roughly 4-5lbs. I think he is going to be tall and I feel like he is getting sort of crammed in there. Definitely can feel that my bump is growing faster everyday as he adds on some precious baby fat.

Sleep: Sleep? What’s that? But really sleep has been hard to come by this time around. Since Tyler took Audrey to see the in-laws this past weekend it was nice getting a full 7 consecutive hours of sleep. I mean- it was just HEAVENLY! I also just started diffusing lavender essential oil in our room at night and hope that will help. Speaking of, if anyone else uses essential oils and has favorite recipes to defuse, I would love if you could comment and let me know :).

Miss Anything: Being able to fit places! HA! Also miss being able to button my normal pants… although I do love my stretchy maternity jeans.

Movement: John William is a big time mover! What’s crazy now is looking down and seeing my whole stomach move as he does. Tyler has gotten to feel a lot of the movements too, which is really neat. I’ve also had a few “Braxton Hicks” contractions where my stomach will tighten for about a minute and release. These are preparing my body, but are not the painful “real” contractions that mean labor is imminent.

How I’m feeling: Super excited, tired at times, and entering major nesting mode over here. No room in our house is safe! We recently had a garage sale and got rid of a lot to make room for his nursery. Currently: cleaning, organizing and donating tons and it feels so good!

What I’m wearing: I’m pretty much still sticking to non-maternity favorites that are comfy and of course, stretchy! HA. Today’s top is a favorite of mine from Pink Blush maternity. You can shop my look below.

My pregnancy must haves: I wrote a post about my favorite items that are getting me through pregnancy… from the oil I’m using to prevent stretch marks and get rid of belly itches, to my favorite maternity workout clothes. You can read that post  here!

Highlight of the week: Getting to have my mom, dad and little bro come stay with me this weekend. It was fun celebrating dads birthday with dinner, shopping and getting inspiration for J-dubs room with mom, and sleeping in (as Audrey is in NE with Tyler this weekend). As nice as sleep was, I am really excited to have them back today and can’t wait to hug and kiss them when they return! It feels like little pieces of my heart are missing!

Thankful for: My dear friends Laura and April for throwing me a baby shower. Loved getting to hear encouragement and advice for baby #2 from all of my friends. It was a special time! Super thankful for all my friends and family that were able to attend and help us prepare for “boy world.”

Here are some pictures from our lovely weekend.

It’s so fun getting to celebrate new life with my dear friends. Thanks everyone for coming and making this time in our lives so special. HE’S ALMOST HERE!!! Thanks for coming along our journey.

Love, Dorothy
