How to Style the Ikea Malm Vanity Table

Welcome to my new fave spot in the house… although, I may have to fight over it with a little someone. 😉 A couple weeks ago my husband surprised me with this awesome vanity/ office space for our anniversary. We had been eyeing this desk and mirror combo for a while but could never make a decision. He found this amazing blush chair to complete the space and he pulled off a great surprise. Pretty sure he nailed this one!! I’m excited to have this glam little corner of my own… even if it is just because he wanted all my makeup off the bathroom counters. Today, I want to share with you how to style the IKEA Malm dressing vanity table and really make it glamorous!

In my opinion, there are a few elements needed to make a cozy little place to get ready or do some office work. A few of my favorite elements to “glam up” a space are beautiful floral arrangements, blush accents, gold anything, faux fur, trays, and mirror details. You can’t go wrong if you have a few of these styling options! You can do what I did, and look around the house to see if you have any pieces you can put together to style your new space!

White Desk

I knew I wanted a simple, but contemporary and modern design with a feminine feel. We got the IKEA MALM dresser and love how it came together. I also love this and this for some other options for white desks from Amazon.

Gold mirror

I fell in love with this mirror the first moment I found it on Pinterest. When I found out it was from target, I nearly fainted! Okay, not really… but what a great find and a fabulous price! Tyler ordered it online and kept it in the garage to reveal for our anniversary and I can’t believe I didn’t stumble upon it! It’s the perfect size and style for this space.

Blush chair

This chair was one of the best surprises. Tyler knew I wanted something with a hint of pink, but I was originally looking at a faux fur ottoman like this one or a upholstered one like this. Those would both work really well for this type of space, but I was really excited he found something that incorporated the hint of pink I really wanted. I also really love the real and natural wooden details of the legs.

Modern Desk with Big Drawer

A non-negotiable for me when creating this space was having enough room to store and organize my makeup. Otherwise, what was the point of having a vanity if my makeup was going to be crowding our shared space in the bathroom. There were so many pretty options, but ultimately the space of the drawer and size of this “dressing table” won out.

Makeup organizer

I went with a modern glass organizer with gold details and its perfect! You could always go with this acrylic one if you need more storage.

Brush holder

I wanted something with a little sass and humor to function as my makeup brush holder. I found this one with a funny quote from Mean Girls movie that says “you’re like, really pretty.” Of course, it was the winner because of the white and gold details.

Mirrored tray

I received this particular mirrored tray as a wedding present, but I linked a few similar options with the gold scroll detail and vintage details here or this one if you want something more modern.

Gold perfume holder

This gold perfume holder is an antique from my great grandma. I love the intricate details and use it for decoration. If I didn’t already have one, I would have chosen this perfume holder for its unique vintage and classy vibe. I also think this crystal one is gorgeous!

Faux fur rug

I’m into faux fur on rugs or pillows! I found my rug here.

Floral arrangements

I love spaces with symmetry so I added flowers on both sides. For florals, you can make your own like I did or buy one already put together. I just went to Hobby Lobby to find the flowers and put them in a cute white pitcher. I also really like the details of this pitcher for a more rustic or farmhouse look. Can’t beat that price! Florals always add “life” to a space and make it fresh.

I love this little space we created and I am excited to use it often! Hope you found these styling ideas & tips useful as your create a little glamorous space of your own!
